Exterior Painting

South Australian weather is hard on exteriors: harsh summer UV, winter rain and everything between. We pressure-clean the surface, repair cracks and flaking, re-caulk gaps and prime bare patches, then apply tough, weatherproof coatings matched to your surface, whether that is render, brick, weatherboard or fibro. The result protects your biggest asset and lifts its street appeal for years, not seasons.

What is exterior painting?

Exterior painting covers every painted surface on the outside of your home: render, brick, weatherboard, eaves, fascias, gutters, downpipes, doors and window frames. It is the most exposed paintwork on your property, in constant battle with UV, rain, wind and big temperature swings.

Because the coating is your home's first line of defence, preparation matters even more than it does inside. Surfaces need to be pressure-cleaned, flaking paint removed, cracks filled, gaps re-caulked and bare patches primed before any topcoat goes on. Skipping that work is exactly why cheap exterior jobs peel within a couple of years.

Why it's worth doing properly

Exterior paint is protection first and looks second, and the South Australian sun shows no mercy to either.

  • Shields render, timber and masonry from UV, rain and rot
  • The fastest way to lift the street appeal and value of your home
  • Seals hairline cracks before they become water damage
  • Light modern colours reflect heat in summer
  • Far cheaper than repairing weather-damaged cladding later

What affects the cost

Every job is quoted individually after we see it, but these are the things that move the price:

  • Size and height of the home: two-storey work needs more access equipment
  • Surface condition: flaking, chalking or repairs add preparation
  • Surface type: render, brick, weatherboard and fibro each need different systems
  • Amount of trim detail: eaves, fascias, gutters and window frames
  • Access around gardens, fences and neighbouring structures

The only way to know for sure is a free, no-obligation quote, and ours are fixed in writing.

Common questions

When is the best time of year to paint outside in South Australia?+

Spring and autumn are ideal: mild temperatures and low humidity help paint cure properly. We avoid extreme heat, direct summer sun and rain, and plan each job around the forecast.

How long does exterior paint last?+

A properly prepared and applied exterior system typically lasts 8 to 12 years in South Australian conditions, and longer on sheltered surfaces. Poorly prepped work can fail in two or three.

Can you fix peeling and flaking paint?+

Yes. We strip back the failing areas, treat the cause, prime the bare surface and repaint. That preparation is the difference between a repaint that lasts and one that peels again.

What about lead paint on older homes?+

Homes painted before the 1970s can contain lead-based paint. We follow lead-safe practices, including containment, wet sanding and safe disposal, in line with Australian guidelines.

Will you protect our gardens and paving?+

Yes. Drop sheets and masking protect paths, plants and outdoor furniture, and we leave the site clean at the end of every day.
