Decorating & Cladding

Decorating & Cladding

Beyond paint, the right cladding and decorative finishes transform how a space feels. We install timber batten walls and cladding on facades, entries, alfresco areas and interiors, create feature finishes, and handle the detailed decorating work that lifts a home or business from ordinary to standout. Every install is set out level and precise, fixed properly for the location, and sealed to handle South Australian conditions indoors or out.

What is decorating & cladding?

Decorating and cladding covers the finishes that give a space its character: timber batten feature walls, exterior cladding, panelling, and the detailed decorative work that sits beyond a coat of paint. It is the difference between a plain wall and the wall people comment on.

Timber battens and cladding are set out with precision: consistent spacing, dead-level lines, concealed fixings where possible, and the right timber or composite for the location. Outdoor installs are sealed and fixed for South Australian weather so they stay straight and keep their colour.

Why it's worth doing properly

The right feature finish transforms how a home or business feels, and it reads as quality the moment you see it.

  • Adds architectural character inside and out
  • Timber warmth softens rendered and painted surfaces
  • Defines zones: entries, alfresco areas, feature walls, reception spaces
  • Composite options for low-maintenance outdoor use
  • A strong first impression for commercial spaces

What affects the cost

Every job is quoted individually after we see it, but these are the things that move the price:

  • Wall or facade area being covered
  • Material: pine, hardwood or composite battens
  • Spacing and pattern complexity
  • Indoor versus outdoor fixing and sealing requirements
  • Substrate condition and any framing needed behind the feature

The only way to know for sure is a free, no-obligation quote, and ours are fixed in writing.

Common questions

What timber do you recommend for outdoors?+

For South Australian conditions we typically recommend durable hardwoods or quality composite battens, sealed or factory-finished. Composites cost more upfront but need almost no maintenance.

Can battens go over an existing painted wall?+

In most cases yes. Battens fix directly over sound plaster, render or brick, and we check the substrate and use the right fixings for it.

Do timber feature walls need maintenance?+

Outdoor timber benefits from re-oiling or re-sealing every couple of years to hold its colour. Indoor timber and composite need almost none.

Can you match an architect's design or a photo?+

Yes. Bring a reference image or drawings and we will set out the spacing and profile to match it.

Is feature cladding only for modern homes?+

Not at all. It often does the most for established homes, framing an entry or lifting a tired facade, and it works just as well in commercial fit-outs.
